Website Liability: Am I Liable for My Customer Advertisements?
Certain types of websites host classified pages such as Gumtree or Craigslist allow anyone to post ads on the site to sell products or services. Sometimes the posting of what is on the website does not turn out to be what the product actually is. For example selling fake iPhones instead of real iPhones but the ad doesn't make this clear. In these cases, a website may be liable for what is being sold if they are seen to be promoting or assisting the promotion of false or misleading advertising.
